Prepare for Steaming: Grease a pudding basin and line the bottom with a circle of parchment paper. Spoon the pudding mixture into the prepared basin, pressing down firmly to pack it well.
Steam the Pudding: Cover the basin with another piece of greased parchment paper and secure it tightly with a string. Place the pudding basin in a large pot, filled with enough water to come halfway up the sides of the basin. Cover the pot with a lid and steam for about 3 hours, checking occasionally to ensure the water level doesn't drop too low.
Final Touches: Once cooked, carefully remove the pudding from the pot and let it cool slightly before turning it out onto a plate. Serve warm with your favorite gluten-free custard or cream.
Nutritious Value
This gluten-free Christmas pudding is not just about flavor; it also offers a range of nutrients. The dried fruits provide a good source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals, while the nuts add healthy fats and protein. By replacing refined sugar with coconut sugar, this recipe also supports a lower glycemic index and adds a hint of natural sweetness.
Perfect Pairings
Pair this delightful dessert with a variety of side dishes and drinks to enhance your holiday feast. A fresh fruit salad with a mix of berries, apples, and pomegranate seeds complements the dessert’s rich flavors. For drinks, consider serving it with a warm glass of mulled wine or a non-alcoholic spiced apple cider. These accompaniments will uplift your festive table and ensure a joyous celebration for all.
